Dear Members and Friends of NDIA Great Rivers.
Our chapter name is derived from the three Great Rivers: the Missouri, Mississippi, and Illinois, which generally align with the Chapter's geographic responsibilities. The Great Rivers Chapter includes the state of Missouri, southwestern Illinois including the Scott AFB area and defense industries within an hour’s drive of the Gateway Arch, and eastern Kansas around Fort Leavenworth.
We have a substantial stake in the defense economy — we know from official state reports — that in Missouri alone the value of goods and services bought by DOD is $14B. But every member should also be aware that this level of business is not stable — the Budget Control Act, military force cuts, foreign assistance programs, BRAC, veterans programs, weapons systems acquisitions are constantly in motion and the sum is a confusing array of ups and downs.
NDIA Great Rivers sees it role as the industry self-organizing body that allows for the collective voice of industry to interact in an ethically approved and meaningful way with government officials. There is a lot of wisdom and insight that we can bring to bear — be part of that voice. Please become an active member and support the industry that preserves the American people as a free and secure nation.
A note about membership — NDIA membership is mostly corporate although an individual membership can be purchased. Your company buys a membership and any employee that registers can be an NDIA member. So ask your co-workers if they are members — if not help them get registered. That gives the chapter leaders a link to keep them informed, and quite frankly numbers on the rolls really matter.
We continue to look for your involvement by staying engaged — we constantly need volunteers to step forward to leadership jobs too.
